Welcome!

Engineers Without Borders-University of Alabama Chapter (EWB-UA) is a student organization at the University of Alabama dedicated to helping disadvantaged communities around the world.

About EWB-UA

EWB-UA is a student chapter of the professional organization Engineers Without Borders. We were founded in the Fall of 2005 and are one of over 100 student chapters nation-wide. We exist to provide solutions to problems in developing communities both locally and internationally. These solutions are obtained by partnering with these communities and finding out what needs they have and using innovative engineering design and implementation to obtain environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economical final products.

On campus, EWB-UA is a diverse group of students that spans all disciplines of engineering offered at The University of Alabama as well as students from other majors. The age of our members range from freshman all the way up to PhD candidates. We meet at least once a month as a general body but there are committee meetings that take place every week. Through partnerships with other on-campus organizations, such as Freshman Forum, we are developing locally and internationally responsible students with a broad range of skills from engineering design to public relations to logistics planning.
